West
New Germany- New Germany State Park cabin. The contactless check-in and check-out process was excellent. Cabin was clean, and firewood and matches were a nice addition. The trails and markings there were exceptional.
- New Germany - I thought the bathrooms were really clean and I was grateful! We camped there in the off season, my understanding is that the one area of the park remained open for the benefit of those who would still like to camp in November. the week we had scheduled in the summer was cancelled due to covid. We tried again later on the eastern shore and were driven off by a windy deluge. This trip was such a benefit to my family's mental health, and at just the right time. Thank you so much for staying open and allowing us some respite in your beautifully kept park. It was such a blessing!
Herrington Manor/Swallow Falls
Herrington Manor - the cabin was very clean; loved having firewood ready for us to use in the awesome wood stove; very nice having a list of all the things we should bring; nice having pedestal lights at the ramp/step entrances that came on automatically; liked the simple, rustic decor; loved the idea of providing sports equipment to use while there at no extra charge.- Allowing family group to use lake house for our Thanksgiving dinner so we could be together at Herrington Manor with fire pit going and no time restrictions!!!!
South/East
Janes Island
- Well maintained Park areas. Even with the Covid 19 casting a shadow on your operation your Park provided a very useful relief from all of today's issues at least during our stay. Nice escape for us.
- Janes Island is a gem. We love this place. Staff is super helpful, checkin convenient. Cabin was great, my daughter just loved it. It was cozy and warm and very comfortable. We will definitely come again.
- During this pandemic, it was good to see that the bathrooms were clean and how many times it was cleaned! I felt very safe using the facilities.
Pocomoke
- I loved the docks at the marina at Shad's Landing in Pocomoke River State park -- I sat and drank my coffee there and really enjoyed the peace and quiet.
- Staff was amazing the guest service woman was awesome!
- I have been a camper for 43 years at this park. (Shad Landing) This year was the most relaxing time we had. The staff was great.
- The camp host in Loop G - Acorn Trail came up to our site the day we checked in and interduces there self and told us there camp site and said if we needed anything get up with them. That was the first time in 16 years of camping that the camp host has done that, and they stopped by a couple more time and ask if we needed anything.
Point Lookout
- Check in process was superb as was the handling of COVID concerns throughout the park.
- Point Lookout State Park employees made us feel welcome. The check in process was handsfree, which was important to us during the pandemic.
- Pt. Lookout staff are AMAZING!
Central
Elk Neck
- ELK NECK - Camp hosts are welcoming. Being a camp host in another state park I know how important this is for visitors and guests.
- Overall this was one of the best state parks I’ve ever visited. Very clean, very well maintained and excellent trails.
- Elk Neck--Even during a pandemic and well into the fall, there were ample staff on site to assist. We did not really need assistance, but I appreciate that there were people there who could answer questions. By contrast, we spend a few days at Cape Henlopen State Park in Delaware. Beautiful park, but no staff around to help with much of anything.
Patapsco
- Renting a gigantic pavilion at the Hollofield site with a fireplace for warmth for a Thanksgiving gathering was a plan I was clinging to for months. We hadn't spent time with grandparents and cousins since the beginning of the pandemic. And the older folk would have spent Thanksgiving alone had we not had this covered structure where we could be apart in relative comfort.
