Preparing for the 2023 EMR Challenge
This blog post is directed toward all currently certified Emergency Medical Responders. The time has come for our annual EMR refreshers in March. Every EMR most take the recert class in March. This year's topics include all medical skills such as CPR, blood pressure, oxygen, airways and patient assessment.
You may have noticed on the training division calendar a link to our skills checklist. This is a great document to print off for yourself so that you know which skills we are working on every year. During our 2023 refresher we will be checking you off on every skill marked with an asterisk or an M. You should come to class prepared to demonstrate those skills.
What does demonstrate mean? Well, you may ask us to show you the skill once if you need a clarification; however, you should be prepared to simply perform the skill from start to finish. We have increased the number of students per class this year so the more prepared students are the quicker the day will go. We expect each skill to be completed as if you were responding to an injury to a park visitor. This means you will start with your initial impression and asking for consent, followed by your primary assessment and secondary assessment and finish with treatment and reassessment.
