The Management Assistance Team (MAT) is part of the Association of Fish and Wildlife Agencies. they provide leadership and organizational development to state fish and wildlife agencies and other AFWA member organizations. 

Their National Faculty staff members are integral to our training program. They hail from diverse geographical and organizational backgrounds.

MRPA Recreation University

Recreation University is a 6-session program providing new employees, part-time or seasonal, non-recreational, or administrative staff with the foundational knowledge of the Parks & Recreation Management field. This program is designed for professionals without a degree to gain an overall view of what it means to be a part of such a unique and meaningful profession.

Session topics have been selected by professionals in the field and will be taught by experts in the Parks & Recreation industry. Throughout the program, participants will share and apply their knowledge to real-life scenarios. Recreation University will meet on the second Tuesday of each month at various locations in Maryland. The Recreation University Committee is diligently working to finalize speakers and locations. All session details will be confirmed closer to the registration deadline, please check back often for updated information. Graduation will take place on March 11, 2025.

Registraion is open until August 19th.

Maryland Park Service Invasive Species Management Guide

The purpose of the Maryland Park Service Invasive Plant Management Plan is to focus agency and park-specific invasive control efforts to protect areas of ecological importance and limit the further degradation of natural areas within park boundaries from the impacts of invasive plants. This guidance document will provide replicable best practices, lessons learned, case studies and planning templates for Maryland Park Service land units to use to develop their own tailored invasive species management plans.
