Modern Hunting Ammunition - Opportunities for Blackwater National Wildlife Refuge Hunters and Conservation

The goal of this session is to provide information in an interactive setting about the best available science on modern hunting ammunition, compare ballistics first hand through live range demonstrations, and discuss practical concerns (i.e., ammunition price and availability). The event will run from 9:00am-3:00pm beginning with a classroom segment and will follow with a live range demonstration. 

This workshop will share what's happening on a landscape scale to address lead impacts on wildlife across the nation, and will include classroom discussion as well as a range demonstration to compare different types of hunting ammunition.

Association of Fish & Wildlife Agencies Annual Meeting

Increasing Access & Inclusion for Wildlife-related Recreationists with Disabilities

Attendees will:

1. Increase their awareness about wildlife viewers with disabilities, including research findings about this population.

2. Increase their understanding of how to support accessibility and inclusion in wildlife-related recreation through hearing preliminary results from focus groups conducted by the Dayer Human Dimensions Lab at Virginia Tech of disabled wildlife viewers.

3. Learn how to increase relevancy of state wildlife agencies by connecting with disabled wildlife viewers, including knowledge of resources that support best practices doing this.
