Working with Trail Apps to Encourage Responsible Recreation

With the continued rise in outdoor recreation and a gap in needed resourcing, it is vital that visitors understand the principles of responsible recreation and how to stay safe. The AllTrails Public Lands program gives land managers powerful tools to help with this education, and funding and allows them to understand what’s happening on their trails. In this session, Cece Kirkwood with AllTrails will share case studies and discuss with partners how they work together to support safe outdoor access for all.

Recruiting, Retaining, and Reactivating (R3) Outdoor Recreation Participants

R3 is a coordinated, nationwide movement to increase participation in hunting, fishing, trapping, boating, and the shooting sports (target shooting, archery, sporting clays, etc.) through Recruitment, Retention, and Reactivation. The sale of licenses and registration from these activities funds much of the conservation work of natural resources agencies. State Parks staff play a key role in R3 whether you realize it or not. Staff from DNR's R3 Matrix Team will unpack the concepts of the Outdoor Recreation Adoption Model and R3 goals and objectives. By sharing the steps involved in adopting or continuing an outdoor activity, the R3 Team hopes to enlist your help in recruiting, retaining, and reactivating our license holders and broadening participation in all outdoor recreation
