Training Opportunities: Week of May 2nd

Things to Know:

2025 Maryland Park Service Wildland Fire Protocols (please read carefully): 

 

1. MPS personnel must meet, to the Forest Service's satisfaction, at least the minimum qualification requirements to be eligible for assignment.

 

2. MPS personnel MUST clear the dates of their "window of availability" with their immediate supervisor and chain of command through the Regional Manager prior to communicating that availability to the Maryland Forest Service and Ranger Luke Mongrain.

 

3. MPS supervisory personnel have full authority to:

·  Authorize "no availability" based on site operational needs.

·  Limit the number of employees simultaneously posting the same window of availability.

·  Authorize a window of availability based on site operational needs with a maximum of one person posting availability per work location.

·  Potentially limit the MPS subordinate employee to one assignment and post "no availability" after that tour is completed.

 

4. Once the window of availability is approved by the MPS Regional Manager, the participating MPS employee must communicate that availability to the Forest Service. This will be done through a Google Form which has been sent to eligible firefighters. Once approved through the MPS Regional Manager send confirmation to Ranger Luke Mongrain and complete the Forest Service Google Form. 

 

5.  If contacted by the Forest Service for mobilization, the participating MPS employee must immediately notify their MPS supervisor. The participating employee and their supervisor will then coordinate and ensure notification to the MPS State Duty Officer and MPS Liaison Ranger Luke Mongrain. This notification is for informational and supervisory purposes and not for final approval/disapproval.

 

6.  All classified MPS employees must complete the Interagency Billing Form and accompanying documentation within 2 weeks of returning from an incident. Interagency Billing forms will be sent out by the MFS Duty Officer upon return of assigned resources.

Historical discovery and engaging dialogue at the forefront of Liberty and Justice for All   In line with our values of authenticity, discovery, and dialogue, the Maryland Center for History and Culture (MCHC) is excited to host our annual teacher institute Liberty and Justice for All?: Freedom and Citizenship in the New Republic. This multi-day experience will take place the week of July 14, 2025, and is designed for upper elementary, middle, and high school educators.
