Upcoming Grant Opportunities:
The Outdoor Recreation Legacy Partnership (ORLP) program provides matching grants to cities for park projects in underserved communities. These investments enable urban communities to create new outdoor recreation spaces, reinvigorate existing parks, and form connections between people and the outdoors.

Is your organization looking for funding to help purchase adaptive equipment like the GRIT Freedom Chair? If so, there is a grant open through the Christopher and Dana Reeve Foundation. Through the “Quality of Life Grants Program,” grants are awarded to organizations that address the needs of people living with paralysis caused by spinal cord and other injuries, diseases or birth conditions, including (but not limited to) stroke, spina bifida, multiple sclerosis, cerebral palsy and amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS). Navigating the Outdoors: Facilitated Recreation, Policy, Permitting, and Partnerships Join The Association of Outdoor Recreation and Education (AORE) and The Society of Outdoor Recreation Professionals (SORP) for Navigating the Outdoors, the first webinar series 2025. This webinar series will share an in-depth exploration of facilitated recreation and its evolving role in supporting public land access, visitor experience, and outdoor partnerships. This four-part series features insights from agency leaders, outdoor guides and facilitators, policy experts, and organizations shaping the future of outdoor recreation. Kicking off with an introduction to facilitated recreation, attendees will learn about successful models of collaboration between outdoor facilitators and land management agencies that enhance visitor experience and stewardship. Sessions will examine agency perspectives, with representatives such as Kristin Kahler from the U.S. Forest Service, and feature a panel discussion with seasoned guides like John LaCroix, who offer first-hand perspectives on creating accessible, safe, and meaningful outdoor experiences. The series will also address critical challenges, including the need for more accessible, well-funded career paths in outdoor facilitation, innovative approaches to mitigate crowding and enhance visitor flow, and the ongoing relationship between facilitators and land management agencies amid staff shortages. Finally, a policy-focused session, with contributions from the Coalition of Outdoor Access (COA) and Paul Sanford, will highlight current permitting challenges and the potential for reform to support sustainable public land access. The series will also include how to support integrated management, stewardship, and equitable access to outdoor spaces. The webinars and learning credits are free to everyone! All webinars take place from 12:00pm-1:00pm Pacific Time. |
