IAATE has new resources available
for you to use as you prepare to meet
the new USDA-APHIS
Animal Welfare Act Standards.

 

Getting inspected by USDA doesn’t have to seem scary or overwhelming.  The good news is that USDA inspectors want you to pass inspection and so do we! USDA has officially begun inspecting birds and facilities that house birds for the first time August.  So, if you have never been inspected by USDA you may be getting an inspection from them in the future.   

Recently IAATE held a webinar regarding USDA inspections.  In our webinar we discussed ways to start thinking about your future inspection and we answered questions members had regarding inspections.  IAATE board members aren’t USDA inspectors but with the help of our webinar panelists we were able to answer questions about our own experiences with USDA inspections.  After the webinar our board felt the need to continue to help people feel prepared by providing resources we thought might be helpful. Getting started in your own facility can be as simple as making a checklist and looking around your facility with fresh eyes.
